Meteorite law in Poland
No meteorite-specific law that we can confirm. The Morasko meteorite site near Poznań is a nature reserve where collecting is forbidden.
Protected sites
We know of no Polish law written for meteorites, so ownership elsewhere follows ordinary property law. The Morasko area near Poznań, where iron meteorites and a group of small craters date from an impact about 5,000 years ago, is a nature reserve, and searching inside the reserve is not allowed. Pułtusk stones from the great shower of 1868 are still turned up in the fields north of Warsaw; ask landowners before searching.
This is general information to help you ask the right questions, not legal advice. Laws change and their details matter, and this summary was last reviewed in 2026. Before you search, buy, sell or export a meteorite, check the current law with the authorities of the country concerned or a qualified lawyer. See meteorite law by country.
