Molteno is a HED achondrite (from the asteroid Vesta) meteorite, officially classified as Howardite, that was seen to fall in South Africa in 1953. A total of 150 g was recovered. Witnessed falls are rare and especially valuable to science, because the stones are collected before Earth's weather can change them.
