What it is
Wollastonite is a chain silicate of calcium. It is named after William Hyde Wollaston, the English chemist who also discovered the elements palladium and rhodium.
Where it is found
In meteorites it occurs with hedenbergite, andradite and nepheline in the altered rims of CAIs and in veins in CV chondrites, and rarely in enstatite achondrites and lunar rocks.
How it is recognised
It forms colourless, fibrous or bladed grains and is identified by its chemistry.
