The Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto displays more than a hundred meteorite specimens in its gallery of minerals, including meteorites from the Moon and Mars.
It is especially strong in pallasites, the beautiful stony-irons made of olivine crystals in metal. It holds the main known masses of all three Canadian pallasites: Giroux from Manitoba, Southampton from Ontario and Springwater from Saskatchewan. In 2010 it acquired a 53-kilogram mass of Springwater found in 2009 by searchers who re-examined the site where the first pieces had been found in 1931. It is the largest piece of Springwater known.
The museum's scientists have also helped recover and study recent Canadian falls.
